Testimonials

Dr. Terri Schmitz has been my first therapist as an adult, and I really feel like I hit it out of the park when I found her.  I haven’t had an easy past with therapy, but she’s made it such a smooth and easy experience for me.  She’s helped me process lifelong trauma that I never thought I would be able to let go of, and she’s helped me to create new coping mechanisms and be kinder to myself.  I genuinely enjoy our sessions together; it feels like talking with an old friend.  She has helped me in ways I didn’t know I could be helped, and I am forever grateful to her for helping me grow as a person and become who I am today.

I was skeptical of counseling when I initially reached out to Terri.  A stubborn part of me believed there wasn’t anything I need to “fix” about myself; a more terrified part of me feared I was already a “lost cause”. But, really, that’s not what counseling is.  Counseling isn’t the act of someone trying to fix you or mold you into who you “should” be.  It’s about finding who you are underneath whatever struggles you’re experiencing – past or present.  IN my time with Terri, I’ve grown a lot as a person.  Counseling helped me become more confident, more positive, more compassionate, and more introspective.  I’ve been able to figure out who I want to be and take actionable steps to reach my goals.  It has also helped me connected more with the people I love most. I can undoubtedly say that counseling has positively changed the course of my life, and I do not believe there is anything in this world I would recommend more highly.

Terri has improved so much of our life after multiple years of counseling sessions.  She helped transform our child from “confused about his feelings” to “expressing them with no fear better than most adults.”  In return, she additionally helped us customize parenting styles in a very difficult co parenting situation with major diagnoses that are hard to deal with in themselves.  Our child is able to overcome these challenges his diagnoses bring and now has a friend he can fully trust and confide in as we head into his teenage years.

As a counselor, Terri is so compassionate, direct when needed and truly caring about her client’s well-being.

The combination of treatments she used in my care helped me develop the tools I needed to process emotions, recognize and get through my C-PTSD triggers, navigate toxic situations and all aspects f life and face h-on the grief that came after losing both of my closest grandparents within a very short time.

My emotional regulation has improved so much, and I no longer avoid those “big feelings” like I used to, thanks to therapy with Terri.

Therapy has been an incredible source of support for me during some tough times.  Having someone there to listen without judgement has made all the difference. Therapy became a safe space to open up, explore my feelings, and gain valuable insights.  Throughout the process I learned so much about myself, gained coping strategies, and discovered resilience I never knew I had. There is strength in seeking help, and you deserve to have someone there for you too.

Terry has really been a pillar of strength when I need it.  It feels good to get my thoughts and emotions out.  She has a way of making me feel at ease to talk to her.  I love getting feedback from her as well.  Sometimes, I need to hear someone’s opinion on how I handled situations.  Rather, it’s bad or good.

Counseling completely changed my life for the better.  Talking with Terri weekly helped me understand and process my emotions free of judgement.  It’s hard to find someone you’re comfortable share with and once I found that person, I could see real change being made.  When my struggles became to much for me to handle on my own, counseling helped me see the bigger picture and break down my problems into breathable steps to accomplish.  I recommend therapy to everyone who asks me about how to cope with everyday life, but also the deeper, harder feelings that we all experience.

I’ve been going to Terri for Counseling for almost three years now and it has honestly been life changing. Being able to have someone to talk to who cares and lets you say what you want and need to is refreshing and has helped me so much over the years.  Terri makes me feel heard and important.  I’ve been to a handful of counselors and therapist(s) over the past seven years and she is the only one who has let me go at the pace that I need to to work on the things that need worked on.
